Behavior and Design of Prestressed Concrete Structures
Description
The design and analysis of prestressed concrete (PC) elements under flexural, shear, and axial stresses is investigated in this course. The emphasis of the course is on fundamental behaviour from a point of view of mechanics and strength of materials.Learning Outcomes
Describe the principles that govern the behaviour of prestressed concrete, namely the interaction between prestressing steel and the concrete in the member.Describe the behaviour and governing failure modes of prestressed and post-tensioned beams, columns, and slabs.
Analyze and design prestressed concrete members to satisfy serviceability and ultimate limit states criteria.
Analyze and design anchorage zones.
